Crochet Doily Wall Decor

Hi all,
Today I am sharing with you that I did as just a random thing, but turned out quite beautifully. It started off as doing a trial on crocheting in rounds and started to emerge as a beautiful doily. I had no pattern in mind and it was a 'build-as-you-go' self pattern using the basic chain, single and double crochet stitches. After completing it i thought it will look better as a wall decor piece in a pink/blue frame. Yert to get that done though.. Here are the pics before the setting up .

I will post the framed ones once it is done!

Hope it turns out well.
Happy crafting folks :)

Mojo Monday 322

Hi all,
This is something i did for a friend of mine. His friend is celebrating his birthday and he requested a custom made card... It has been reaallllly long since i made a card. I followed the mojo Monday template to create his card.

Here is the template provided by Julee this week.

Below is the card I designed. There are lot of small items that went into making this card. Here is how it goes.
1. Base is a A4 sized handmade paper folded into two.
2. The ribbon part of the sketch is replaced by crochet yarn made into a bow and a crochetted heart.
3. The inner square is replaced by paper doily. I just love this paper doily.
4.The inner part of the card is made up of two small cards for writing additional cute stuff. :) , added some quilled hearts :)
5. The envelope is something different in this card. I haven't gone for a traditional envelope but just folded a A4 sheet printed with flower template around the card and added a silver ribbon :) :)

Here are the pics

Basket Weave Stitch Pouch WIth Puff Stitch Flower

Hi all,
Today I finished crocheting something that I did after learning two new stitches. The Basket weave stitch and the puff stitch. There are lots of tutorials to demo this and I must say the basket weave stitch is super cool. It has a beautiful texture and makes your material strong.
The puff stitch flower is a cute little flower that I had created separately. But since the colors complemented each other I added it. The button is also made out of a simple stitch base that is used to start all flowers.

Here is what it looks like.
Hope all of you like it :)

Crochet Granny Square Bags

Hi all,
I have been trying to find time to crochet but somehow time seems to elude me :( sob, sob...

But somehow i crocheted these beautiful granny squares on train travel to my office. There were just 6 pieces done and I converted 4 of them into small granny bags. These are great for gifting to someone. You could just pop something in, a candy, a heart, some small message etc and send it to them :)

It is also a cute way of storing your itty bitty lipsticks, balms clips etc in your purse. :)

Here are some pics. Hope you enjoy them. The pattern is a traditional square granny pattern thaat I found online. Millions of tutorials available for these :)

Happy crochetting :)

Crochet Mobile Phone Pouch

Hi all :) :) :)
Hope you all are doing good. It is karthikai festival and I m just back lighting lamps visiting temples, and eating sweets :D :D

Today I am sharing with you my crochetted mobile pouch that took about 4 to 5 hours to complete... i know it is too long for something so simple... But of course when you don't know it does take time. There is no great pattern involved here. The pouch is made of complete double crochets. The heart is actually something that i intended to be a flower, but when i did two petals though it is much better to convert it into a heart :)

Here are the pics...

Let me know what you guys think of this :)

A step into the crochet world. Crochet Flower

Hi all,
I wanted to try something different and so went ahead with crochet. I looked up some video tutorials and there are some great material available online. I had learnt the basic in the craft classes in school days so it was quite easy to pick up :) I just learn some basic stitches and gave a try at this crochet flower myself. There is no defined pattern. It does not look random thank heavens, But the red part could have been much better, yes.
I deliberately did not take pictures of the backside :P :P

Happy crafting until next time! :)

Hi all,
Today I am sharing with you a recycle craftwork. My green mug wass worn out and i did not feel like throwing it away... Instead i thought why not use it as a pen stand :) :)

Navarathri 2013!! :D

Hi alll :)
It has been a really long time since i blogged.. Lots of new things in life and this has taken a back seat.... :P
Last two weeks was sooo busy with Navarathri celebrations.

It all starts with taking down boxes and boxes of golu dolls in various sixes wrapped in paper, cloth, bubble wrap and what not. Then comes setting the steps, covering with a cloth and decorating the steps with lights and paper.

Then the best part is arranging the dolls and setting up park and houses. :) :) 9 days of beautiful festival :)

Here are some pics of the golu kept in my house

Quilled Bride!

I have been trying to do a quilled face for sometime now and probably some actual person rather than doing something out of my imagination. You can see my previous attempt at a quilled lady here which also happens to be my first post in this blog.

This person got married recently and i was just taking some random pics at her wedding and really liked this one. Though she didn't , saying it is a stupid looking pose :P :P But nevertheless, it gave me an opportunity to try quilling it. :) :) She has been with me from school college and we even work in the same place :) Love you darling. You are such a sweetheart :)

It was intended to be a plain white background pic at first. But couldn't help giving a orangish tint for the background and also adding color to the hair part.

I think it has turned out quite decently...

Here is how it evolved. :)

Happy quilling :) :)
